What do you want to do?
Well we got to the end of Matthew! Well done to those who’ve stuck at it, especially given some of the technical hitches and delays from my end.
Next stop is Mark’s gospel. We can carry on as we have been with a passage each day. I wondered though whether some people feel overwhelmed trying to catch up when they miss a few days. How about going slower for a while, with just one passage each week.
I think I’ll personally still plan to use it every (well almost every) day, but either just keep meditating on that one passage for a week, or take a sentence from it per day, or something like that. That way hopefully I’ll come up with at least one comment I want to add to the discussion part each week.
Anyway, this is our thing, so please make your suggestions for what will work for you.
We’ll start the next phase in a few days.

Going slower would work for me - sometimes I’ve tried to catch up, maybe wanted to comment on something a couple of days ago but its not seemed worth it because that one’s gone now and we’re on to the next one. Maybe a bit longer would give more chance for discussion..

I agree with Alison. Would be nice to have a bit longer to ‘chew the fat’. I did a week of guided prayer recently and was surprised by how much came out of one small passage when I ’sat’ with it for a few days. (Not literally! It was a ‘retreat in daily life’!). We can always increase the number of passages per week later if it loses momentum/ goes too slow.
I’d really like to do Mark next too.

I agree with Alison and Bethan too! A passage a week would give me more opportunity to meditate more on THAT one when I’m sooooo busy - rather than having to hop onto the next one before having chance to comment. PLEEEEEEAAAAAASSSE don’t pack it in altogether or cut it down more than that tho’. I really DOES focus me and make sure I DO “read the Bible” despite how busy I am. Maybe a slower pace WOULD encourage more comments - I am always DELIGHTED if someone has left a comment for me to think about. It’s a fab job you’re doing Richard - and VERY much appreciated. God’s really using it in my life.

Thank you Richard. I would really appreciate it if we went a bit slower then I wouldn’t feel quite so guilty on the days that I miss! Have really benefitted from the passages I’ve read and enjoy reading the comments (this is my first). Keep up the wonderful work please.

I echo all the comments so far - one or two passages a week would be great and give a good chance for us all to reflect on them and offer any comments, insights, etc. Fewer passages per week would certainly work better for my haphazard devotional life!!

As an official guilty party who has not yet re-started being a part of the dream lectio, i also feel a slower pace would help me to keep up and give these readings the attention they deserve!

thanks for the feedback everyone. Seems pretty unanimous. lets go for Mark next and slow down to one passage per week. Obviously though feel free to revisit it and add comments more than once if you get the urge.
