Matthew 18:18-20

“Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven. What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.”

This shot through me today. Really awakened my sense of the connective power of prayer. It felt like I had this sense of being plugged in. Three people - like a three point plug in a socket.

Can you imagine my surprise when I learned there were 2 or 3 others in work who wanted to explore Christian spirituality and to try to integrate their faith (and doubts) within the workplace?

This small group is a tremendous support to me - no one else can really understand the pressures and stresses experienced in the workplace and it is great to spend time with a group of like-minded individuals who share similar goals, struggles, challenges …………. and also have a laugh together.

We meet virtually everyday to eat lunch together, sharing whatever we’ve brought in. We also meet for an hour or so after work on Wednesday evenings (when we can), getting to know each other better, learning from each other and experimenting with different ways to connect with God.

That sounds really great Julie - although it does make me feel rather guilty, as my boss is a Christian too and we never pray together or anything.

Scary that praying as a group seems here to be so much more powerful. But in a strange roundabout way, we can be more sure that God wants something to happen if a few of us feel the holy spirit in us pointing a certain direction - so go with the flow and act on it!
