Matthew 10:40-42
“We are intimately linked in this harvest work. Anyone who accepts what you do, accepts me, the One who sent you. Anyone who accepts what I do accepts my Father, who sent me. Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God’s messenger. Accepting someone’s help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I’ve called you into, but don’t be overwhelmed by it. It’s best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won’t lose out on a thing.”

This is a response to yesterday’s comments - sorry I’m a day late!
We have experience having to choose between God and family - and the pain of choosing God! We came to Liverpool because we believe that this is where God wants us - and it’s not been easy. But I’ve found that both my sister and brother don’t understand. When I have conversations with them about how hard it is here, their (mostly unspoken, but sometimes verbalised) response is, “well you chose to go there”. I don’t know how to get them to understand that yes, it was a choice, but a choice based on what we believed God was calling us to do.
What makes it harder is that my sister is a Christian herself!
I saw a programme called “The meaning of life” on Sunday evening - celebs talking about faith and God - Alan Titchmarsh said that he had a faith but a private one. How is that possible? - where in the bible does Jesus say that it’s ok to keep your faith private. How as a church have we got to a point where people think it’s possible to have a faith which is private and impacts on noone else?
